Citizens Committee

MARIONVILLE CITIZENS COMMITTEE

The village of Marionville is governed by two separate townships:  the Township of Russell, the Township of North Dundas and the City of Ottawa. The elected representatives of these three governmental entities, along with the residents of Marionville, felt it was essential to establish the Marionville Citizens Committee (MCC) to best represent the interests of the Marionville community.  As a result, the MCC was formed and incorporated as a non-profit organization on July 13, 2011.

The MCC, made up of volunteer members of the Marionville community, works in close collaboration with the three governmental entities and other Marionville community associations to promote and foster the interests of the Marionville residents. The identification and coordination of various investment projects required for the smooth running of the Marionville community are crucial and essential functions performed by the MCC.

Since the MCC was created, several community projects have been successfully completed:

Here are some of these projects:

  • Creation of a new logo for the village; welcoming signs have been installed at all three entrances to the village
  • Renewal of the Séraphin Marion Park

  • Design and installation of historical silhouettes on the main streets of the village

  • Organization of several community events, such as:
    • Canada’s 150th Anniversary
    • The launch of Marionville’s historical book: « Marionville ….mon village raconté »
    • The annual Sugar Shack Brunch
    • The annual Corn Roast
    • The annual “Meet me on the Main” event
